It of course wouldn’t be Christmas in Birmingham without our iconic Frankfurt Christmas Market, however, there are so many exciting events and activities going on across the city that absolutely shouldn’t be missed! No where does Christmas quite like Birmingham and we’re here to tell you why. Here’s a list of what’s on in Birmingham this Winter 2024 to really make the most out of the festive season this year with the whole family.
Christmas in Cathedral Square Craft Market
From Wednesday 13th November – Sunday 22nd December 2024, Cathedral Square will be hosting 60+ independent businesses selling a diverse range of crafts, gifts, and ornaments, meaning you can spoil your loved ones with a one-of-a-kind gift this Christmas. There will also be an array of pop-up food and drink vendors too including Purecraft Bar and Kitchen, Vegabond Wines, and Hookways. Enjoy a ride on a helter-skelter, listen to live music from local artists, and don’t forget to have a festive tipple at the infamous Pigeon in the Park pub too!
Winter Funland at NEC Arena Birmingham
Festive fun for the whole family! From Saturday 7th December 2024 to Wednesday 1st January 2025, the UK’s largest indoor fairground is back again at the NEC Arena Birmingham for the festive season. Enjoy 4 hours of unlimited funfair rides, ice skating, a festival circus, and an extreme motorbike show – all of which are included in your entrance fee. Birmingham Botanical Gardens Winter Light Trail
Embark on an evening mile-long wander illuminated by the theatrical lights, sights, and sounds, bringing the grounds of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens to life. Running from 29th November 2024 – 1st January 2025. Please note that tickets must be booked in advanced online.

Brum’s Christmas Reindeer Trail
Santa’s nine trusty reindeers will be visiting Birmingham this Christmas as part of a magical sculpture trail around the city centre! To embark on this hunt, you will need to check out this map to locate all of the nine, colourful reindeer sculptures which all reside in festive hot spots around Birmingham! The reindeers will be displayed in locations such as, Great Western Arcade, Ice Skate Birmingham, Selfridges, The Mailbox, and more! This will launch on Wednesday 6th November 2024 and will continue throughout the festive season until 6th January 2025. Be sure to take a selfie with each reindeer and scan the QR code which will allow you to donate to Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity and support the vital work that they do for poorly children.
Christmas Shows and Pantomimes
Gift-wrap the festive season with a theatre trip! Pantomimes are timeless, so take the whole family to Birmingham Hippodrome to see Peter Pan featuring Birmingham’s very own and funniest lady, Alyson Hammond, watch a spooky retelling of the timeless Christmas classic, Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story, at The Rep, sing along to your favourite Christmas songs with Step into Christmas at the Town Hall. Not forgetting a cherished, annual Christmas tradition here in Birmingham: seeing The Nutcracker, brought to you by Birmingham Royal Ballet, at the Birmingham Hippodrome.

Birmingham biggest Christmas attraction is back in Centenary Square for another year. Beginning on Friday 1st of November and running throughout the Christmas period until Sunday 5th January 2025, take to the ice on one of the voted UK’s best ice-skating rinks which caters for families, schools, and parties. Your 45-minute session is accompanied by festive music, colourful lights, a whole lot of laughs! There’s also no need to worry about the typical British weather. Since last year, the rink is now undercover. The iconic big wheel is just next door to the ice rink and treats you to an amazing bird’s eye view across the city.
