Upcoming Concerts at Symphony Hall Birmingham

Symphony Hall has been the undisputed champion of concert halls in the United Kingdom since its inauguration in 1991. In fact, many also consider it to be amongst the best in the world. But what makes this concert hall so special? It’s not just the calibre of the performers who have walked through its halls. It’s also the history and the sense of community associated with it.

History

Back in the 1980s, Birmingham’s economy wasn’t doing well. So, the government’s plans to build an international convention centre along with a concert venue to house the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra resulted in the Symphony Hall. Expert acousticians and architects created a venue that surpassed any other concert hall in the UK by choosing to follow the traditional shoebox design of world-renowned venues. Its reverberation chamber, acoustic canopy and staging can be adjusted and modified depending on the performance to improve acoustics.

Performances

Today, Symphony Hall attracts all sorts of genres, including jazz, folk, classical music, rock, pop, etc. On any given day, you can find a top violinist playing a few days before a top-charted pop artist. What’s more, this concert hall doesn’t discriminate! Brummies have the opportunity to utilise this space as a venue for graduations, conferences, private receptions and community events.
