Brunch is a glorious meal that is neither breakfast nor lunch, but a splendid combination of the two and consumed at around 11 AM traditionally on a Sunday.
Whether you choose to define brunch as an early breakfast or late lunch is neither here nor there, but one thing is for sure – brunch is the unspoken hero of the UK’s society.
Brunch is a wonderful hangover cure, and an incredible excuse to gather friends and family for delicious food and a few Bloody Marys & Mimosas, leading to a very pleasant day ahead.
But the best thing about brunch is that it combines the savoury and the sweet of both breakfast and lunch, giving you the best of both worlds.
After all, no one would disagree that a Sunday well spent brings a week of content?
Gas Street Social
You can find Gas Street Social in The Mailbox. Their brunch is one that should not be missed, as they offer an All Day Brunch of champions; from a 7oz steak and eggs to fruity pancakes or a sharing brunch with 12 rashers of bacon, eight Cumberland sausages and so much more, it is clear that a brunch at Gas Street Social will help make you feel like the Stereophonics, as you’ll be having a nice day. On Saturday and Sunday Gas Street Social takes brunch to the next level, with bottomless Bellinis served with any brunch item between the hours of 10AM and 5PM. Imagine sitting by Birmingham’s very own canal side, and sipping on a never ending Bloody Mary, whilst putting the world to rights. An experience to be had!
Cherry Reds
A stone’s throw away from Birmingham New Street and Grand Central, hides the wonderfully independent Cherry Reds. Opposite Turtle Bay on John Bright Street, this charming cafe caters for anyone and everyone. Whether you’re a meat eater, vegetarian, gluten intolerant or vegan, a brunch at Cherry Reds is sure to satisfy. From a hearty all day breakfast, buttery crumpet or tofu and broccoli hash you’ll leave feeling fantastically full. Their delicious coffee puts the cherry on top of Cherry Red’s brunches, as you can wash it down with a flavoured latte (also known as disco coffee), whilst enjoying the quirky and mismatched decor.
Ju Ju’s Cafe
Ju Ju’s Cafe takes the saying, “less is more” and wipes the floor with it (metaphorically of course). This mellow eatery can be found alongside the canals just off of Broad Street. Ju Ju’s is Birmingham’s only restaurant offering panoramic views of the beautiful canals – imagine sitting out in their open air seating and watch the boats float along, whilst feasting on delicious food. It does not matter if you are vegetarian or gluten free, Ju Ju’s menu really is a, “hub for great British food”. From slabs of thick white bread coated in butter to full English breakfasts and smashed avocado, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
